The Auction — NFT Airdrops for Closed Beta Auctions
The NFT community has eagerly awaited The Auction’s mainnet release since learning about this new NEAR Protocol NFT platform. After months of hard work and testing, on May 6 The Auction opens its first beta auctions. These auctions are accessible only to holders of an exclusive NFT that is airdropping to 1,200 whitelisted alpha auction testers. The alpha testers were crucial to the development of the platform. They brought the development team a lot of useful information, and many of the testers report that they enjoyed the testnet experience. The airdrop comes in collaboration with TenK DAO and with the help of their NFT technology. An additional 2,000 editions of the NFT are available to select partners.
This NFT is your key to The Auction’s closed beta mainnet auctions from May 6–24, but it is more than just a utility token to access The Auction. You’re receiving art from Zeitwarp, a crypto artist working exclusively on the NEAR ecosystem. As a part of The Auction’s ongoing partnerships and collaborations, The Auction commissioned Zeitwarp to create this NFT, The Auction LOOP. It is an audiovisual artwork created in Zeitwarp’s distinctive style. Holders will receive only the visual component now.
Zeitwarp sampled the image from A Minor IV, a physical painting from his MUSIC GRAFFITI collection. He then digitally manipulated the image, created the liquified distortion effect, and added The Auction logo. Zeitwarp adapted the visual aesthetic from his GLITCH BREAKS series, a collection of NFTs exploring the feedback loop between sound and visuals. The movement of the logo is timed to the audio, which you will be able to experience soon. The audio component is scheduled for release later this summer in collaboration with DAO Records.

Holders that access the beta mainnet release this weekend will see some improvements from the alpha on testnet and new features added by the development team. For example, users have a public profile that can be personalized, and there is now a notification system. Devs have squashed many bugs, so the entire auction process should run much more smoothly than what the alpha testers experienced on testnet.
